A Glazed Ceramic Tile is sealed on the top by the glazed surface. 
A Porcelain Tile is so dense that the entire surface is sealed during manufacturing.  Only Natural Stone (Marble, Travertine, Granite, Etc.), and Saltillo need to be sealed to prevent stains.  However, it is suggested to seal the grout lines after a sufficient drying period.
